Peter: Alright, listeners. Are you an active learner or a passive learner?
Becky: Do you even know?
Peter: Here’s the difference between these two types of learning.
Becky: ‘Active learning’ means you’re actively engaging with learning material and focusing on it.
Peter: For example, you’re reading in your target language, looking up words and translating as you go along...
Becky: ...And you’re memorizing a list of phrases or you’re speaking out loud.
Peter: The point is, you’re fully focused on what you’re learning and nothing else.
Becky: Passive learning is different, because it requires less concentration.
Peter: And it’s usually done when you’re doing something else... for example, walking somewhere or commuting.
Becky: You could be listening to an audio lesson, watching a video lesson, reading...
Peter: The difference is, you’re not fully focused on picking apart every single word.
Becky: You’re just passively taking the language in.
Peter: So listeners, how do you learn? Are you actively engaged or do you passively learn on the go? Or do you mix it up? Let us know in the comments!
Becky: Here’s how you can learn both ways with our lessons.
Peter: If you’re an active learner, here are 4 tactics you can start applying.
Becky: Number 1 - Listen to the lesson and read along with the translations.
Peter: That will really boost your comprehension and listening skills. Plus you’ll start to understand everything you year.
Becky: Number 2 - Repeat the dialogue as you hear it. You can do this with the line-by-line feature.
Peter: This will boost your speaking skills. Do this again and again until you speak with confidence.
Becky: Number 3 - Record yourself with our voice recorder in the line-by-line...
Peter: ...to perfect your pronunciation and see how close you are to a native speaker.
Becky: Number 4 - If you want to boost your vocabulary, study words with our smart flashcards.
Peter: The flashcards quiz you on the hard words and skip the easy ones, so you actually improve faster.
Becky: Now, if you’re on the go, and can’t actively focus on the lessons...
Peter: This is a great time to do some passive learning and put wasted time to use.
Becky: Simply play a lesson and listen along. That’s it.
Peter: But you should use this time to review old lessons since you can’t fully concentrate.
Becky: Great tip, Peter. It’s hard to learn new things when you’re not fully engaged.
Peter: But listeners, both are great ways to learn, depending on your situation.
Becky: If you have some quiet time and can focus, definitely go for the active learning option.
Peter: But if you’re on the go or multi-tasking, passive learning is the way to go.
Becky: Whichever your style is, you can apply both with our lessons.
Peter: And if you want to get our lessons and our entire language learning system...
Becky: Now’s the time! Get 25% OFF Basic, Premium or Premium PLUS.
