Hi Listeners! What words do you need to survive the Zombie Apocalypse? Let us know!
thank you for a very good (and challenging) question.
As for "survivor" - I usually hear the name "ocalały" (male) or "ocalała" (female). Technically speaking, they are adjectives, but in this context they are used as nouns (which sometimes happens in Polish - for example, you can address someone as "mój drogi"/"moja droga", literally meaning "my dear", but "drogi" in this case has a function of a noun).
Colony would be "kolonia". For example: "Nieliczni ludzie, którzy przetrwali, żyją w małych koloniach" ("Few people who managed to survive live in small colonies"). (A small digression - "kolonia" in plural - "kolonie" - also means "summer camp" for children).
As for "walker" - in this context, it would be "wędrowiec" ("Był ocalałym z katastrofy wędrowcem" - "He was a roamer who survived the apocalypse").
The genre name is very simple, because it's similar to English - "literatura dystopijna" (although the name per se is not widely used - usually you would just hear people talking about "dystopia", which already is a name for the genre). And "post-apocalyptic literature" is "literatura postapokaliptyczna".
We are working on this issue, we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
How about survivor, colony, and walker?
What would this genre be called in Polish? We call it dystopian literature or post-apocalyptic literature.
