Hi John,

You can say "Jak się masz" or "Co słychać", or use any other phrase from our list.

Polish people still use all of these phrases.

Should you have any questions, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Hanna

Is Jak sie masz kind of not used in Poland though as I have read? Or is it becoming more common now?

I definitely say Jak sie masz the most... I learned to say it as a little girl from my grandparents who came to the States from Poland. Next would be Cześć. Good to learn some new phrases! Thank you!

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for your nice words?

"Co u ciebie?" can be a short version of "Co się dzieje u ciebie?".

Literally it means "What is happening at your place?"

"Co" is "what", and "u ciebie" is "at you place".

Please compare "u Ciebie" to "u mnie", "u niego", "u niej", etc. All these phrases points at someone's place, like in a sentence "Jestem u ciebie w domu" (I am at your place, in your house).

I hope it helps!

Do not hesitate to leave us a comment, if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Great lesson, covering all types of situations !!

Greetings and saying hello is your first opportunity to leave an impression on someone. Very useful, dziękuję !

One question: how can "Co u ciebie?" be grammatically explained/translated?

This one is a bit challenging for me.

Thanks

Stefan
