John: This is Must-Know Polish Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 15. In this lesson, you'll learn idioms for warnings.

John: Marzena, what's our first expression?
Marzena: Nie wywołuj wilka z lasu.
John: It literally means "Do not call the wolf out of the woods," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "Let sleeping dogs lie."
Marzena: [SLOW] Nie wywołuj wilka z lasu. [NORMAL] Nie wywołuj wilka z lasu.

John: Use this expression when you or someone else said something or is about to say that something bad will happen.

John: It literally means "Don't split the skin on a bear," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "Don't count your chickens before they're hatched."
Marzena: [SLOW] Nie dziel skóry na niedźwiedziu. [NORMAL] Nie dziel skóry na niedźwiedziu.

John: Use this expression when you want to warn somebody that he or she should not count their profits before actually getting them.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.

John: It literally means "Don't say ‘hop’ before you jump," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "Look before you leap."
