Dear Sofia,

In Polish we have cases, there are 7 of them - you can read about it here: https://www.polishpod101.com/polish-grammar-introduction/

The sentences you mentioned:

Rodzina je śniadanie.

Kobieta pije wodę.

The case of the nouns - 'śniadanie' and 'woda' - in both sentences is accusative, which indicates direct object. When we decline nouns in most cases their endings change. For example the noun 'woda' (nominative / basic form) in accusative changes into 'wodę'. For example

- I want water - Chcę wodę

- I drink water - Piję wodę

- Pass me the water - Podaj mi wodę

On the other hand 'śniadanie' is a special noun, which doesn't change when declined.

- I eat breakfast - Jem śniadanie.

- They prepare breakfast - Oni przygotowują śniadanie.

Cases always cause some problems when studying Polish, but please don't get discouraged!

Hope my answer helped!

If you have more questions, please, don't hesistate to ask!

Good Luck! :)

Aaah this is a bit to hard for me!

Can you please tell me the conjugations you are using here?

Is it like, the woman drinks water and the family eats breakfast?

And the last sentence about the water, why does it change woda into wodę? All the other names remain unchanged...

I hope it's okay to ask here!

Thank you so much, it is hard but it is challenging and it motivates me to learn!
