Lesson Transcript

Cześć! Jestem Joanna. Hi! I’m Joanna.
Welcome to PolishPod101.com’s “Polski w 3 minuty”. The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn Polish.
In the last lesson, we learned the numbers from one to ten. Do you remember? Let’s practice!
Jeden, dwa, trzy, cztery, pięć, sześć, siedem, osiem, dziewięć, dziesięć.
Great job!
And now let’s continue from eleven.
Jedenaście.
[slowly] Jedenaście.
Dwanaście
[slowly] Dwanaście
Trzynaście
[slowly] Trzynaście.
Czternaście
[slowly] Czternaście
Piętnaście
[slowly] Piętnaście
Szesnaście
[slowly] Szesnaście
Siedemnaście
[slowly] Siedemnaście
Osiemnaście
[slowly] Osiemnaście
Dziewiętnaście
[slowly] Dziewiętnaście
And finally we have:
Dwadzieścia
[slowly] Dwadzieścia
Okay, now repeat after me. I'll say the numbers and give you time to repeat each one.
jedenaście
dwanaście
trzynaście
czternaście
piętnaście
szesnaście
siedemnaście
osiemnaście
dziewiętnaście
These numbers may seem harder to remember, but you really just have to memorize czternaście, piętnaście, szesnaście i dziewiętnaście. There rest of them are just compounds of a digit and naście. Like trzy-naście, siedem-naście.
Easy, isn’t it?
Let’s not stop at 20! Counting from ten to one hundred is super easy! Now I'll give you the tens:
[G screen-ws]
Trzydzieści
Czterdzieści
Pięćdziesiąt
Sześćdziesiąt
Siedemdziesiąt
Osiemdziesiąt
Dziewiećdziesiąt
Sto
The first 3 tens may be a little bit tricky, because their endings are different from other tens. Let’s take a closer look:
Dwadzieścia is made from dwa and dzieścia
Trzydzieści is trzy and dzieści
And finally czterdzieści is czter and dzieści.
Please note that we cut off the last letter of cztery, which means four.
Then starting from fifty it gets much easier, because we just take the digit and add the ending dziesiąt. Let’s try together.
pięć and dziesiąt is pięćdziesiąt
sześć and dziesiąt is sześćdziesiąt
siedem and dziesiąt is siedemdziesiąt
osiem and dziesiąt is osiemdziesiąt
and finally
dziewięć and dziesiąt is dziewięćdziesiąt
The last thing to learn today is how to form compound numbers above twenty. This is also super easy!
Take the tens and simply add the numbers you learned in the previous lesson.
Let’s try it out.
How would you say “fifty-six” in Polish? Let’s take it step-by-step. "Fifty" is pięćdziesiąt, and then add "six", sześć.
Pięćdziesiąt sześć! It’s done! Isn’t that easy?
Let’s make another number, for instance, "ninety-eight."
Take "ninety", dziewięćdziesiąt, and add "eight", osiem:
Dziewięćdziesiąt osiem!
After only two lessons, you are now able to count to one hundred in Polish!
In the next lesson we are going to put your number knowledge to use! Do you have all the skills you need to go shopping in Poland? If not, I'll be waiting for you in our next Polski w 3 minuty lesson. Do zobaczenia!

In the video, the Polish word for 90 has a small spelling mistake, twice!

The ę in the middle of the word is given as e on two occasions.

Just a couple of English spelling mistakes in your lesson notes: Thirty, not thirrty; forty not fourty. Also the spaces between English and Polish numbers are missing, at seventy, eighty, ninety and one hundred.

Nevertheless, I am very impressed by your course, thanks.
