Lesson Transcript

Hi everyone! I'm Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We've found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you'll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you'll learn how to ask the question, "When is your birthday?" After watching this video, you'll be able to ask and answer about the date of an event.
Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Kiedy są twoje urodziny?
4-ego marca.
Once more with the English translation.
Kiedy są twoje urodziny?
“When is your birthday?”
4-ego marca.
“It's on March 4th.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "When is [event]?"
The pattern is: Kiedy jest/są [event]?
“When is [event]?”.
For example:
“When is your birthday?”
Kiedy są twoje urodziny?, Kiedy są twoje urodziny?
Now, how do you answer this question?
4-ego marca.
“It's on March 4th.”
Listen to it again:
4-ego marca., 4-ego marca.
This Polish sentence literally translates as "4th March." But it means “It's on March 4th.”.
