Nie zrozumiałem. translates as "I didn’t understand." Nie zrozumiałem.

Note, the speaker is male. For female speakers, it’s not the same. Use zrozumiałam.

Zrozumiałem is from the verb, zrozumieć, meaning “to understand.” Zrozumieć.
