Using Polish to learn Polish is one of the fastest ways to improve your speaking and listening skills. Plus, it's an easy way to start a conversation.

Jak powiedzieć po polsku "turtle?"

Hi Joseph Craig,

Thank you for posting.

"Proszę powtórzyć za wolniej" is almost correct. This "za" is unnecessary.

Correct sentence would be "Proszę powtórzyć wolniej".

Sincerely,

Hanna

Is it grammatically correct to say "Proszę powtórzyć za wolniej" or what would be a better way to ask "Could you repeat it more slowly please?" (or similar).

Hello Jane,

Thank you for posting.

I am not sure what are you asking about.

We do not use verbs with "to" in Polish 😳

Could you please clarify?

Sincerely,

Hanna

When do you use “to” before the verb?

HI Natasha,

To say "please help" / "please help me" you can say:

"Proszę, pomóż" or "Proszę, pomóż mi" - in this case you can use "mi" or omit this word. Second thing is that you need a comma, since there are two verbs in one sentence.

You can also use an infitinive form of the verb "to help", and say:

"Proszę mi pomóc" - you rather do not omit "mi" in that case (pay attention to the word order).

Also, you can also use a noun "pomoc" and say:

"Proszę o pomoc".

If you have any questions let us know!

Sincerely,

Hanna

jak powiedzieć po polsku: “please help” or “please help me”?

Proszę pomoc?

Proszę pomoc mi?

Pomoc is the infinitive of help yes? but is it an exception that it translates to “pomóż” instead of "pomoc"?

Cześć Donna Alfs,

Yes these accent signs change the sound of letters and words in Polish, so you need to use them while writing and speaking. You can choose Polish in the language settings of your personal computer or mobile device.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Kind regards,

When I complete my writing skills do I need to use the accent signs. I know I spell the words correctly but my grade does not reflect this. Do I need a specific keyboard adaptation so these accents are included?

Hi Sam,

If you say "proszę to przeczytać" it means "Please read it (to the end)".

On the other hand, saying "proszę to czytać" focus on the action of reading itself.

You add "prze-" to give meaning of complete action.

I hope it helps!

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,

Hanna

Can you say "Proszę to czytać"? Sometimes verbs are added prze- in the beginning form; Co to znaczy?
